Geopolitics Roleplay

Originally, Estovasian settlers came from the continent of Verusea in the year 228CE to found a colony from a long gone city state called ¨Estri.¨ Shortly after founding their colony, the city state was wiped out and integrated into a larger empire of the time, and the colonists promptly cut off most contact with the old world, and began making a new life for themselves. The initial colony expanded into a large city known as ¨Farbanti,¨ and began exploring the continent around them, slowly taking more land along the way.

   It was a 400 year period of growth, expansion, and complete isolationism from all other nations. Eventually however, in 678, relations were established with a confederation of native tribes from the northern islands of the continent, calling themselves ¨The Confederacy of Arxas.¨ relations with the natives were initially relatively sour, as the Estovasians desired land that the Arxians had, however after a treaty was signed whereupon Arxas agreed to cede some territory to Estovasia in exchange for the relatively advanced Estovasian technology, and a non aggression pact.

   Another two nations were discovered on the continent, including a massive Kingdom to the west. A rivalry between Estovasia and the Kingdom of -Mobius- began almost immediately, and during the mid 1500s a colonization race began. While Estovasia did gain some small islands and territories here and there, the Kingdom of -Mobius- obviously won this race, with the founding of two massive colonies, one just to the south of Estovasia itself on an uninhabited island.

   The many riches of these colonies made -Mobius- into the dominant superpower on the continent, though Estovasia could still complete. The king of Estovasia in a desperate attempt to level the playing field a bit invaded the smaller nation of Kivoland. -Mobius- followed suite, and despite fierce resistance from the Kivish, they were sandwiched between the two powers and ultimately annexed. By doing this and taking the rich city of Danzist and other rich cities of Kivoland, the balance of power was maintained on the continent, and an era of peace began.

   This era, known as the Wilhest Period (after the dynasty of the time) lasted from the early 1600s until 1897. During this time, at the start, Estovasia prospered, and had become known to the rest of the world as a fine manufacturer of arms and fine jewelry. It is even said that the Ryudinian dynasty wore Estovasian wares from time to time. Eventually, however, all good things must come to an end, and Estovasia was no exception.

   In 1897, a magnitude 9.7 earthquake occurred, still the largest in recorded history, near the capital of Farbanti, completely destroying it and killing over 700,000 across the country. It caused irreparable damage to the nation's economy, and hundreds of thousands more starved as a lack of money and rapid inflation occurred across the entire country. In 1906, in order to avoid complete economic collapse, the king made a radical decision; to invade The Kingdom of -Mobius-, in order to take their Eastern lands.

   The war was initially a success, with great gains made from 1906-1909. However in the year of 1910, the Estovasians tactics were countered, and the Kingdom of -Mobius- began pushing back to the original border. While many hundreds of thousands were dying, the economy was in fact being stimulated by the constant buying and production of arms. Estovasian territory was largely untouched throughout the war, with only Kivish taking the brunt of the carnage.

The war ended, with a white peace, in 1912, after 6 years of brutal fighting. Casualties numbered around 1,000,000 military deaths on each side, and almost 2,000,000 Kivish civilians killed. While the Kingdom of -Mobius- and Estovasia remained relatively unscathed, and the Estovasian economy was now booming once more, what had once been Kivoland had been devastated. Under a joint agreement, and due to massive riots taking place, both Estovasia and -Mobius- agreed to cede territory to create a new Kivoland. In addition to such, a strong friendship with Eestliionaalia was formed, as they closely economically cooperated with Estovasia during the war.
   
   Will Estovasia’s monarchy survive? Will another war be prevented? Only time will tell.
