At the dock, the Governor of the state of Califia, Antony Marshall, greets the Rhenanian envoy as they leave the pier. "Welcome to Avalon, Grand Duke. It is a pleasure to have you with us."

National Guardsmen inspect the crates and _{[Assuming they're good]} clear the envoy to pass. At the Golden Square, Aeserian workers help to prepare the Rhenanian exhibit for display.

At the Avalon Airfield, a loud droning can be heard as four prototype flying wings come in for landing, each driven by four pusher props, soon after the Eestliionaalian Representative disembarks, a translator and six guards, each armed with a submachine gun chambered in the new 6.5x45mm cartridge, follow, after unloading several large crates from the ventral bomb bay.

The workers at the airfield watch in awe at the flight of flying wings taxi and come to a halt along the edge of the airstrip. With the age of aviation just beginning, the Avalon Aerodrome mainly serves small civilian aircraft and local mail ferrying services, making the Eestiionaalian prototype craft an intersecting sight.

"Welcome to Aeseria, gentlemen," A lead security agent at the airstrip says, his voice slightly raised to overpower the sound of the propeller blades, "we have a convoy of vehicles ready to ferry you to the World Fair." He points to a motor pool next to the airstrip's hangar and control tower, and a limousine and several trucks are ready in idle. Meanwhile, several National Guardsmen move to inspect the crates.

As the sun begins to set behind the city skyline, the workers at the Avalon Golden Square center make their final preparations for the imminent World Fair. A civic center holding the country's greatest museums, art galleries, and monuments, the center now has strings of lights hanging from streetlamps and flags from every country dotting the center plaza. Meanwhile, in the various expositions around the square, artisans and scientists from every corner of the globe prepare to display their artifacts and inventions to the world. The capital has truly become a city of lights, and in the distance, the newly constructed Silver Strait bridge is decorated lavishly as well.

To newly arriving attendees, it's easily clear that security for the event was taken with careful consideration. At the entrances, small posts of the Califia National Guard screen the entering guests, and more clusters of Guardsmen patrol within the center. On the waterfront, a dozen small patrol craft of te Aeserian Coast Guard sail around the inland sea, ready to receive anyone in a potential emergency. The Avalon Police Department similarly works to ensure traffic is regulated around the center's entrances.

At 5, the World Fair opens to its attendees. The first guest, President Geoffrey Colburn, is saluted by the fair's guardsmen. Afterwards, envoys of international delegates and aristocrats the world over begin to arrive, either by their luxury sedans or by boats arriving along the waterfront. The Aeserian Presidential Orchestra begins to play as more guests continue to arrive.

AVALON; Jan 1 - At 8:00 AM this morning, the governors of Califia and Sartoga cut the ribbons on the Silver Strait Bridge, signifying its completion. Now open for public use, the Silver Strait Bridge spans a length of over two kilometers long, making it the longest bridge in the world.

The suspension bridge links the capital city of Avalon, located along the northern shore of Aeseria's inland sea, with neighboring St. Hewlett, neighboring on the southern shore. The bridge carries the newly designated Aeserian Route 101 across the strait, connecting the previously isolated states of Califia and Sartoga. Although the idea of a bridge spanning the Silver Strait is not new, the proposal to construct it mas made official with the inauguration of Geoffrey Colburn in 1920. As part of his "Emmeria First" policy, Colburn laid his plans for further development of Aeserian infrastructure, with a bridge spanning the strait as a postcard example. A fund of forty million credits for the bridge was allocated in the fiscal budget of 1921, and construction of the bridge began in April 1922, finishing eight months later in December. With the bridge completed, it is now viable for traffic to cross the inland sea without having to travel along the northern coastline, diminishing the time to cross from several hours to several minutes.

As of 1923, the Silver Strait Bridge is the longest suspension bridge in the world, with a total length of 2.7 kilometers. Alongside its practical use as transportation, the governors of Avalon and St. Hewlett believe the bridge will serve as an important cultural landmark which will attract further tourism to both cities. The bridge's clearance above high water averages 70 meters, while its towers, at 230 meters above the water, are the world's tallest on a suspension bridge. The bridge, being only several kilometers away from Avalon's Golden Square, will be present to the audience of the Avalon World Fair later this year.
